Then Grannie Island saw the washing machine. "What do you do with that machine?"
"Well," answered Grandma Mainland, "you put clothes in to wash them, so they will be lovely and shiny to wear."

After tea Grannie Island wanted to help wash up so she put the cups and plates in the washing machine, but they broke. As the pots went round and round so did Grannie Island's head until she got dizzy and fell over.

Grandma Mainland went upstairs to the computer to see how much money she had. When she went downstairs to get a drink Grannie Island came in and pressed a button and her money went down to 1p. Grandma Mainland was cross but she forgave her.

One day Grandma Mainland took Grannie Island to a posh dress shop where she bought a new dress. She put it on when she got back to Grandma Mainland's house and she looked glamorous in it.

"I am going to buy you some make up," said Grandma Mainland, "to go with your new dress."
"OK, but I'm not into make up. Are you Katie Morag?" asked Grannie Island.
"Not really, but I will take it,"
